Why don't you offer black, dark-blue, cobalt or any other colored coffee mugs?
As already outlined in a previous FAQ
question, we can, at this point of time, only decorate white coffee mugs.It has always been very difficult to print light colors on dark backgrounds, even when using the screen-printing process where thick layers of paint can be printed readily. If you look at a black mug with, for example, white printing on it, you'll notice that the white color is printed very thick and that only basic lettering and shapes are printed - no fancy details at all.
This is to make sure that the black background color does not "show through" the white paint. (That the white is really opaque.) If it would, the white paint would not look white but gray.
This kind of decoration would not be acceptable for more sophisticated mug decorations, such as, for example, fine details, shadows, gradient fills, continuous tone images, photographs and so forth - the hallmarks of modern sublimation mug decorations.
There is, however, a solution to this "apparent problem":
By printing a black (or any other dark color like dark blue, cobalt, etc.) background band on most of the coffee mug - except mug rim, bottom and mug handle - where the white of the mug itself will be the "color white to be printed" the fine details of modern mug decorations can be obtained.
Now, fine details, gradients, shadows, continues tones, photos as well as almost any design in brilliant, shiny colors can be reproduced with acceptable fidelity.
This, it seems, is a small price to pay for not having an "all-in-and-out black" coffee mug. We had always assumed that the quality of the mug decoration would be more
important than the basic color of the coffee mug - your coffee will not mind.
For those who need dark colors on their coffee mugs, we now also offer a few "inside-colored" coffee mugs that come very close to the all-around black coffee mug. Why not take a look at them while you're here?

Can you recommend a shade of red and blue that prints nicely with your sublimation process on custom coffee mugs?
You might want to try the following red and blue spot colors with your digital vector art work files. Please note that the values here indicated are only suggestions as there is no definitive recommendation as to which red or which blue is suitable for your purposes. You might also want to try them with your raster/bitmap files.
When the reproduction of a particular color is of importance, a Sample Mug should always be considered before ordering.

on our white coffee mugs, as the yellow color will not show up
sufficiently bright to be discernable enough. |

Can I put my Sublimation-decorated coffee mug on an electric Mug Warmer?
Yes, you can but if your electric mug warmer emits a lot of heat and especially when your mug is almost empty and gets very hot, the bottom part of the mug design might be influenced by the heat and show some "wear-and-tear" there, especially with our up-down mug decorations.

What sizes of mugs do you carry. Are they all white ceramic with transparent glaze?
We carry four (4) sizes of white sublimation ceramic coffee mugs:
- 11-oz coffee mugs (this is the regular and most common mug size):
- 15-oz coffee mugs (this mug has the same diameter as our 11-oz mug but is slightly taller);
- 18-oz stein (this stein has the same diameter as our 11-oz mug but is almost twice as tall);
- 21-oz coffee mug (this big daddy has about twice the capacity as our regular 11-oz mug).
- We can also offer you our 14-oz, stainless-steel travel mug with lid. This travel mug does not have a liner and is all stain-less, except for the lid, handle and bottom.
At this time we do not have any mini coffee mugs nor special cups for Spanish or Cuban type coffee (café Cubano). All our ceramic sublimation mugs are white glazed. We wish we could offer our customers
"colored" coffee mugs but unless and until somebody invents white pigments that can be used with our computers and digital printers, we can offer only white-glazed ceramic coffee mugs.
We also carry "colored" coffee mugs. For details, please open this link.

What types of mugs, mug sizes and mug colors are available?
All our mugs are white-glazed - even our color-changing, temperature-sensitive Morph or Chameleon mugs. We can, however, simulate colored mugs in that we can print colored bands (max. 3" high) around the mug in a wrap-around fashion and superimpose any digital art over it. This way very unique and interesting effects are achieved that cannot be obtained by other decorating processes. Our white mugs and stein come in these sizes: 11-oz, 15-oz, 18-oz and 21-oz. Please click here to see photos of our mugs and their dimensions.
More details on dimensions can be found here.
We also carry partially "colored" coffee mugs and color-changing, temperature-sensitive Chameleon or Morph mugs. For details, please open this link
